Thanks  to Fred Cirksena and Mark Metzler  for their recent contributions of vintage mutes.

Fred donated a spherical  Harmon style mute by an unknown maker of perhaps 50’s/60’s vintage.

Mark donated a “Crown Town Modulator”  for alto sax -  in the original box - AND our first woodwind mute in the museum!

Both will have photos posted shortly.

Information Sought

The following information is sought to add to the collective knowledge here at VintageMutes.com.

If you can help, please email us at webmaster@VintageMutes.com

1) Information about the founders and history of Shastock Mutes.

2)  Information about Guy B. Humes of Chicago, IL. - Mute designer, patent holder (active 1923 - 1941), and presumably founder of Humes & Berg.  (Humes and Berg has not answered my inquiries about Mr Humes, and their history at their website makes absolutely no mention of him.)

3) Can anyone identify the maker/ approximate year of this spherical Harmon style donated by Fred Cirksena ?
